Abstract
This paper analyzes the theoretical/ conceptual underpinnings of different professions in their sociologic and economic dimensions, which are the
bases for studies carried out in Mexico in several disciplinary fields, thereby contextualizing the tourism profession.
At the same time, the paper identifies the human
capital theory as the axis to be approached as the object of study, wherein its economic and social scopes outline the scholarly activities and the production of knowledge on tourism linked to development.
