Abstract
This paper is aimed at characterizing
the current quality assurance system
for higher education in Chile. We
discuss the main implications that the Chilean
model of accreditation has brought to
the country´s higher education system by
presenting and analyzing official data. Results
show that, although the Chilean model
has permitted a more orderly and coherent
growth of the higher education system as a
whole, there are still several limitations and
challenges yet to be addressed.
