Abstract
This paper reflects on higher education from a critical social psychology perspective, based on the discourses of international organizations, which propose models that include both socially oriented guidelines and skills formation objectives. It
discusses whether those discourses should prioritize the formation of a self-governing citizenship, endowed with a sense of social responsibility, or rather promote an educational model focused on training professionals to meet labor market demands.
