Abstract
Learning strategies adopted by students affect the goals of educational models, while having an impact on the type of learning that can be achieved. A study of the learning strategies employed by university students, whose educational model is student-centered and competency-based, found that half of the sample group employ learning strategies consistent
with that model, such as meta cognition, self-regulation and self-evaluation; others
combine strategies such as memorization and meaningful learning strategies; a minority
employ organizational techniques.
