Abstract
Mexican higher education establishments have a long
tradition of receiving intellectuals, scientists and foreign artists who have left their countries for political or economic reasons. In this article, we are interested in studying these little known actors, by reviewing the résumés of foreign scientists
who arrived at the University of Sonora at the end of the last century. We also conducted a dozen interviews to explore the reasons for the geographical displacement, the configuration of their academic careers, and their experiences of entering the field of Mexican science.
