Abstract
This paper analyzes the perception of the quality of higher education in the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) and the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), the top-ranked universities in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. We conducted a structural survey inside and outside the premises of the ITESM and UANL. We then applied a structural equation model to the results of the survey, in order to gauge students´ perceptions of the quality of the various offerings of these institutions. Among key results, we found that students from ITESM give greater weight to the modern facilities and technological innovation in the classroom, while students from UANL place greater value on the level of academic preparation of faculty.
